Book Review…A Narrative on Life
After serving in Vietnam, Mel Valkner came home from the Army in 1971 disillusioned, groping for answers and using drugs. Beginning a life-long search for truth, he graduated from college with the double majors of political science and philosophy.
Following the sudden deaths of a good friend, father, brother and newborn son he put his faith in Jesus Christ. Seeking a deeper relationship with God, he read the Bible through more than 30 times. That was the easy part.
Becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) he worked as a financial executive in healthcare, service, education and manufacturing industries. Even as Mel committed himself to being a family man, disappointment and confusion came with business failures and job losses.
There is an old saying, “Don’t talk about politics or religion.” Well, THE COMMON MAN completely disregards that claim and drills deeply into both.
After 9/11 Mel read the Koran and compared it to the Bible. Every Christian needs to read this chapter and get ready for a dose of reality.
Returning to his philosophical and political roots, Mel ran for U.S. Congress against long-time "moderate" Michigan incumbent Rep. Fred Upton. With his unique background, Mel began researching Constitutional Solutions to the nation's ills finding two “smoking guns,” one economic and the other religious, multi-faceted transfers of power killing the heart of our culture and The American Dream.
There is another old saying, “Follow the money.” In doing so, Mel Valkner discovered long-forgotten precepts of the Founding Fathers. Every American must fully understand our currency is now our weak link…and will soon bring about the nation’s destruction unless we return to the basic economic principles envisioned by the Founders. About Mel Valkner...
Mel Valkner, CPA is a life-long resident of the Kalamazoo, Michigan area. After serving in the U.S. Army with tours in Vietnam and Germany, he attended Western Michigan University (WMU) graduating with the double majors of political science and philosophy. Returning to WMU for two more years of business and accounting classes he eventually became a CPA and tax professional.
Leaving public accounting he became a healthcare administrator, financial executive in manufacturing, education and service industries, entrepreneur and author. He is a former First Vice-Chairman of the U.S. Taxpayers Party of Michigan (USTPM.org), Michigan's affiliate of the national Constitution Party.
